Weeki Wachee

Twin D’s (Little Spring) is in Weeki Wachee about half a mile south and east of the Weeki Wachee Mermaid Theater. There is a hiking trail leading from the Kayak Parking area to the spring for park goers to walk to Twin D’s. There is no public drive up access. The spring is behind a rail fence and the park does not allow swimming there although there is a water park at the main spring. The spring’s head pool is about 36 feet across west to east and about 76 feet north/south. There are two openings in the pool, one is quite small but passable. The other opening is about 30 inches in diameter and is the entrance used to gain access to the amazing system seen in the picture gallery. The boil can be non-existent or it can raise 3 inches above the surface of the pool and be impassable to divers. The discharge from this spring heads north and joins the Weeki Wachee River and runs to the Gulf of Mexico.
